We are representing a leading UK-based national business advisory firm. The firm specialises in Corporate Finance, Debt Advisory, Forensic Services, Financial Advisory and Restructuring. Their Debt Advisory practice is well regarded as one of the top Middle Market practices in the country.


The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Associate Director / Director-level Asset Based Lending (ABL) specialist to join our client's growing Debt Advisory team.

This is a senior role with responsibility for leading the origination, structuring and execution of ABL transactions for mid-market sponsor-backed and corporate clients. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in traditional ABL structures, alongside broader debt advisory experience including acquisition finance and refinancing.

You will work closely with Partners to deliver high-quality client outcomes while contributing to the strategic growth of the ABL and wider Debt Advisory offering.


Key Responsibilities

Origination & Business Development

  • Originate new ABL debt advisory mandates through direct client relationships, intermediaries and private equity networks

  • Collaborate across service lines to identify and execute ABL opportunities

  • Design tailored financing solutions aligned to client objectives such as M&A, growth capital and working capital optimisation

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with banks, credit funds and alternative ABL providers

Transaction Execution

  • Lead or support end-to-end delivery of ABL transactions, including structuring, negotiation and documentation

  • Coordinate internal teams and external stakeholders including lenders, legal advisers and other advisors

  • Oversee financial modelling, covenant analysis and capital structure optimisation

Strategic Advisory

  • Provide independent advice on debt capacity, funding options and prevailing market conditions

  • Support refinancing, recapitalisations and covenant reset processes

  • Advise on integrating ABL facilities within broader capital structures

  • Stay up to date with market trends, regulatory developments and evolving financing solutions

Leadership & Team Development

  • Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture

  • Provide technical and commercial guidance across ABL transactions

  • Contribute to the strategic development and growth of the Debt Advisory and ABL service line

  • Represent the firm at industry events and contribute to thought leadership initiatives


Candidate Profile

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in debt advisory or asset-based lending (lending or advisory)

  • Strong technical knowledge of ABL structures, including receivables, inventory, plant & machinery, commercial property and cashflow-based lending

  • Solid understanding of debt markets, legal documentation and capital structures

  • Advanced financial modelling and analytical capability

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders

  • Strong commercial acumen with a proven track record in originating and executing transactions

  • Established network across private equity, corporate clients and ABL lenders

  • Collaborative leadership style with a genuine interest in developing talent.
