Debt Advisory Associate

Job Description

We are excited to be partnering with this global valuation and corporate finance business with expertise in complex valuation, disputes and investigations, M&A, debt advisory, restructuring, and compliance and regulatory consulting.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join this European Debt Advisory team whilst in its formative stages. The team assist middle-market private equity firms and companies with raising or refinancing debt and is differentiated by its extensive lender contacts and ability to provide superior deal execution on a wide range of debt-related assignments, ranging from raising or refinancing debt for leveraged buy-out transactions, refinancing or raising debt for corporate clients and assisting the restructuring practice with covenant resets, debt restructurings and finding new liquidity sources for corporate clients, sometimes on behalf of their existing lenders.



Work on a variety of debt advisory transactions as described above in all stages, from initial client pitches to transaction closing.

Supporting other parts of the firm, notably the Restructuring Advisory and M&A practices in the UK, in particular on debt-related matters, financial modelling and business plan analysis.

Key debt advisory transaction-related activities will include supporting senior members in the practice with: i) handling the new internal transaction/client “take on” process, ii) review and analysis of transaction material and due diligence reports, iii) preparation of, and working with, financing models, iv) preparation of ‘teasers’ and information documents for prospective lenders, v) negotiating NDAs with prospective lenders vi) coordinating Q&A and management presentations with lenders, and vii) assist with term sheet preparation and negotiations.

Secondary activities, aside from transaction-related activities, will include market research and tracking of market trends, maintenance of loan databases, and preparation of pitch books and other general marketing presentations.

Develop, coach and motivate junior staff (analysts and interns). You will be assigned a wide variety of projects and given as much responsibility as your experience and capabilities permit



B.Sc / B.A equivalent qualifications from a reputable UK/European university.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience at a bank, credit fund or reputable advisory firm with demonstrable debt structuring experience.

Strong analytical and credit analysis skills.

Sound understanding of, and ability to analyse, key accounting statements including P&L, BS and CF.

Excellent financial modelling skills in Excel with a good foundation of building (and working with) operational and/or finance models, including analysing business forecasts, evaluating scenario analysis and covenant calculations.

A broad perspective of debt market trends and popular financing instruments and their key features.

Candidates with other language skills (in particular German or French) and experience with asset-backed financing would be highly desirable.
